Main Purpose of the Role:

The main duties of this role are Machine Diagnostics, Servicing and Repairs to all JCB product ranges. This is a customer facing role which requires you to build strong customer relationships within the Service sector of our business. You will need to promote and present a professional image and offer service solutions to our customers and frequently liaise with the manufacturer JCB. The objective of this role is to provide the customer with a World Class customer service experience.

 

Basic Hours: 40 hours working week, 08.00 – 16.30 hours.

• Overtime after 8 hours, the first 4 hours at time and a half, thereafter paid at double time (daily).

Requirements:

• NVQ Level 2, 3 or equivalent and have experience in the construction, HGV or agriculture heavy plant machinery sectors including servicing and maintenance then this could be the role for you.

• Experience on hydraulic systems, open and closed loop, axles, transmissions manual and power shift, cam-bus electrical systems and working on JCB machinery or equivalent

• Portfolio of certification/achievements required

• Full UK driving licence required.

We need a minimum of an NVQ 2 in plant engineers, servicing an maintenance or we face challenges obtaining the required CSCS Health & Safety certification to operate on site.

                                    

Field Service / Workshop / Preventative Maintenance and Power Generation Service Engineer requirements:              

  • Knowledge of the JCB Plant industry environment or similar industry
  • Experience on hydraulic systems, open and closed loop, axles, transmissions manual and power shift, cam-bus electrical systems and working on JCB machinery. 
  • Remote working roles need to be technical specialists with industry experience to be able to work remotely independently and competently.
  • JCB highest spec of technical JCB product knowledge and skillset
  • Portfolio of certification/achievements required
  • Excellent understanding and deliverance of a World-Class service to the customer
  • Professional customer facing skillset
  • Excellent ability to work under pressure with flexibility to meet the needs of the customer
  • 40  hours working week, 08.00 – 16.30 hours, half an hour unpaid lunch
  • Pay Grading Structure 12 – 1 + 3 Top Technical Grades. – Grade 12 starts at £11.00 per hour to Technical 1 Grade is £19.40 /h (n.b. overtime minimum of 10 hours per week at first 4 hours 1.5x then after that at 2x)
  • OTE’s range from £28,700 - £50K+ (guide)
  • Southern Area Weighting applicable to relevant service engineer location/s and an additional £1.00 per hour for each hour worked, overtime rates do not apply. 

 

LEICESTER DEPOT

Territory Area; Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire.

 

PETERBOROUGH DEPOT

Territory Area; All of Cambridgeshire.  Norfolk to Kings Lynn and Downham Market and to the A10 where there is some cross over.  Lincolnshire up to Boston & Sleaford A17.  Northamptonshire – Wellingborough and up to Corby (Leicester also cover Corby) and as far as Oakham, Bedfordshire – Sandy and across to Bedford.  Hertfordshire – Royston and Melbourne.

 

NB. Cambridge/Royston/Newmarket area is the area we are currently looking to recruit in.

 

LEIGHTON BUZZARD DEPOT

Territory Area; Kidlington and Leighton Buzzard joint area coverage of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire,  Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, occasionally Essex,  Copart in Kent,  West & East Sussex, Hampshire, North East Somerset, Wiltshire,  Berkshire, Uxbridge and London.

 

NB.  Ardent Field Service Engineers; location expected to work in Milton Keynes,  Bedford, Oxford as far down as Watford and maybe in to top end of London.

                    

KIDLINGTON DEPOT

Territory Area; Kidlington and Leighton Buzzard joint area coverage of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire,  Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, occasionally Essex,  Copart in Kent,  West & East Sussex, Hampshire, North East Somerset, Wiltshire,  Berkshire, Uxbridge and London.

 

WYMONDHAM DEPOT

Territory Area; Norfolk and Suffolk the cut off being A10 between us and Peterborough down to Cambridge and to the south Just below Ipswich.  From Wymondham we have engineers travelling into London on a regular basis. We have a couple of remote engineers that are covering in London, Kent and some of Sussex.   If one of our depots are unable to cover we also will travel into their area to get the job covered being Ardent and the 4 hours response times.

 

NB.  Please note on all Depot territory areas there is quite a lot of cross over of areas whenever there is a JCB machine down.

 

Interview Process

  • Self-style questionnaire and Belbin testing – written tick box exercise
  • Depot Manager and HR Manager and/or Supervisor conduct a question and answer interview format
  • JCB Online training task relevant to the role applied for
  • JCB Service Engineer technical assessment paper
  • Hands on diagnostic/repair task – if applicable
  • Shadowing of role (dependent upon time and people resource and may be subject to change)
  • Portfolio of certification and achievements required
  • Two satisfactory work references c/w contact details
