SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 3) - APPRENTICE PROGRAMME (25k Annually)

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS You will have achieved 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade A - C (4-9) including English and Maths

You will be supported by an experienced H&S Manager to perform the following tasks:

The Role: You will support the H&S Dept on a number of projects to meet the requirements of the Health & Safety Management systems. The role will also involve assisting the operational departments by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the health & safety standards.

As the H & S apprentice you will be instrumental in supporting the Department in providing effective and efficient coordination for Health & Safety related tasks and functions which may also involve Environmental issues .

Helping to provide assurance to Senior Management teams through the H&S auditing programme, you will receive support in coordinating and delivering audits, inspections and in preparing their respective reports. You will champion HSE initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.

Main Responsibilities

Provision of occupational health within the business, under the direction of the H&S Lead. • Support the communication and promotion of the monthly concepts and objectives. • Provide consistent and accurate H & S advice to employees • Provide support to business units on H & S initiatives • Provide support on H & S issues/problems • Produce statistics, KPI’s and reports on a monthly basis, identify trends and take proactive initiatives • Support the coordination of the risk assessment process such as: (COSHH & RAMS) • Plan and carry audit visits across the company. • Collating and reviewing site’s H & S documentation • Providing basic guidance on matters of H & S to teams across sites • Assisting the H&S Dept in the development of training courses (toolbox talks, inductions) & presentation content for a variety of topics. • Administering and monitoring company reports to identify the need for refresher training. • Producing H&S performance reports and information bulletins to be sent to employees • Assisting the H & S Dept in the development of company policies, procedures, training manuals & other associated documents • Assisting in maintaining and updating the company incident - accident records and KPI’s • Liaising with HR Dept to support the co-ordination of Health & Safety training. • Drafting Health & Safety communications and documentation. Communications • Contribute to general communications at an office and site level • Produce and communicate audit reports • Produce and communicate safety alerts following incidents to promote learning and prevention • Accident/incident investigations • Undertake timely investigations Key measures & targets: Adherence to all deadlines
