Questions applicants ask

How do I prepare for a video interview?

Mostly it’s the same as a normal interview. You’ll want to research the company and dress appropriately, for instance. But you should also check your internet connection (we have a handy connectivity link on our portal) and advise other people in your house or office space not to disturb you. 

How do I make a good impression in a video interview?

Presentation is always important, whether you’re meeting in person or via video. That includes dressing well and smiling, but since you are on video it is also helpful to sit in a well-lit, tidy area. Above all, make sure you are well prepared (see above) and on time.

Can I apply for a job using my LinkedIn profile?

We will still need a CV for the client at some point, but you can start the conversation with us using your LinkedIn profile. If there’s a live vacancy on the site, just hover your mouse over the profile and you’ll see the option.

Do I still need a CV if I’m doing a video interview?

Yes. Your LinkedIn profile can be a part of your dialogue with us, and the video interview will help you show your best side, but your CV is still important. We’ll upload it to your profile in the portal and your potential employer will be able to access it to find out more about you and your experience.


How long does a video interview usually last?

Your initial interview with us will only take around 15 minutes. In that time we’ll create a 2-3 minute clip with you, which we’ll send to employers as part of the shortlisting exercise. After that, if you’re selected for a job interview, these will usually take around an hour. But they can be shorter or longer, so give yourself plenty of time to ensure you can stay until it ends.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?

Absolutely. You don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket because you can never guarantee you will get what you apply for. Give yourself the best chance of getting the right job by applying for other posts. Even if you don’t get accepted, it will be good interview practice.

Why should I use video to recruit new team members?

Video-first recruitment is quicker, more efficient and more sustainable than traditional recruitment. You won’t waste time on applicants that seem good on paper but are not the right fit for your team. And you’ll stand a better chance of finding those who are.


Why should I use Vocacio to help me with my video recruitment?

We do the heavy lifting so you only have to consider the best applicants. We’ll go to the market, speak to and shortlist the talent - and record short interviews with them. What questions should I ask in a video interview?

The same as you would in a regular interview. There aren’t any questions specifically suited to video interviews. The main thing is to be clear about what you’re looking for so that you can ask questions which will draw the right information from the candidate in terms of both their skill / experience and their personality / potential fit with your team.

Is video recruitment more expensive than traditional recruitment?

Not necessarily. Usually our fees work out around the same as a normal contingency recruiter, but we offer additional services such as DISC profiling and video shortlisting. We can also create cost-effective exclusivity agreements to further help you reduce your costs.


Can I set the questions for the candidate’s initial shortlisting video interview?

Yes, we can definitely arrange that. Or if you prefer we can ask the candidate broader, general interview questions. Either way you’ll be able to get a sense of who the candidate is before making the decision to invite them for a formal interview.

How does Vocacio’s video recruitment portal work?

It’s a web-based portal, so all you need is an internet connection and a mobile or laptop. You don’t need to download anything, you’ll just click on the web link we send you and enter your password. Simple as that.


What happens to the client and candidate videos after a role is filled?

Candidate videos can be given back to candidates on request, or we can keep them for reference purposes, securely in encrypted cloud storage. 

How do you protect my data on your portal?

Your data is stored securely in an encrypted Cloud system, accessible only through a password protected link. Your contact details are stored on an. Our portal will only display your name and pre-recorded video. 


How do I access the Vocacio portal?

We’ll send you a secure password protected link. You won’t need to download anything. All you need is a phone/tablet/computer and an internet connection.


Will a Vocacio recruiter be present during live video interviews?

Yes, we’ll be there to facilitate the conversation between the client and candidate and ensure everything runs smoothly throughout.


Does video recruitment work for the manufacturing industry?

Video recruitment is ideal for complex industries like manufacturing. It reduces the complications of long distance travel, especially if employers have multiple sites up and down the country. Video also gives skilled candidates a chance to speak about their specific experiences.


What kind of roles do you hire at Vocacio?

We hire all permanent or contract professional roles within manufacturing and FMCG. This includes engineering, design, quality, projects, operations, continuous improvement, maintenance, supply chain and procurement. We don’t recruit for temporary labour roles.
